Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

The Service collects and uses the following information.

• IP address: Temporarily collected for rate limiting, to prevent abuse. Three cases: (1) submitting delay reports — duplicate and excessive reports are limited for 5 minutes; (2) reading delay reports — requests are counted in 5-minute windows; (3) the public departures API (/api/next) — requests are counted in 1-hour windows. Read-request counters may remain until cleanup after 1 hour. Expired records are removed automatically on a regular schedule and during later API requests. IP addresses are used only for these abuse-prevention checks. Duplicate-report checks store the IP address together with the stop, route/destination and scheduled departure time.
• Location: Requested with your permission for nearby-stop search and when opening or recentering the map. Coordinates are processed on your device and are not sent to our server. Map-image requests are described below.
• Local storage: The following are stored only on your device and are never sent to a server.
  • Settings: text size and display language
  • Advertising configuration cache: the mode used to select an AdSense or affiliate banner. The browser may fetch this small configuration from kagoit.com when an ad area approaches the screen; the cached mode is kept only on your device.
  • Stops: most recently selected stop, recently viewed stops (up to 5), favorites (up to 6)
  • Destinations: recently chosen destinations for "Find a bus by destination" (up to 5)
  • Display state: when you dismissed a notice (used for up to 6 hours on the same Japan date), whether you dismissed the "Add to Home Screen" hint (kept until site data is cleared)
  • Troubleshooting log: up to 30 local display diagnostics for the installed-app view, such as time, app build ID, display mode, viewport dimensions and scale. These are not sent to a server.
  • Offline cache: app files and static pages, up to 30 stop timetables, 40 route patterns and the route-search data (data cached for up to 30 days). This cache can remain after the tab closes; browser settings or clearing site data can remove it.
  • Session storage (normally cleared when you close the tab): timetables, route details and route-search data to avoid repeat downloads, the buses you reported as delayed today, and the destination and starting point chosen in "Find a bus by destination"

2. Sharing with third parties

We do not provide information collected by the Service to third parties except as required by law. Separately, your browser connects directly to external services for maps, advertising, contact forms and support payments. Delay-report counts and the associated bus and stop information are shared with other users.

3. About cookies

Core features use your browser's localStorage, sessionStorage and offline caches, not cookies. However, the advertising described below (Google AdSense and affiliate advertising) does use cookies via third-party providers.

4. Advertising

This Service uses the third-party ad service "Google AdSense" (Google LLC).

• Google and other third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits.
• Information collected: cookie data, access logs, browsing history, etc.
• You can opt out of personalized ads via Google Ad Settings.
• See Google's advertising policies for details.

※ Google AdSense is based in the United States, and your data may be processed on servers there.

This Service may also display affiliate advertising from A8.net and the Rakuten Affiliate programme instead of AdSense. If you click such a link and make a purchase, the operator receives a commission from the advertiser. This does not affect the price you pay, and the operator does not receive information that identifies you. These links may set cookies to measure referrals.

5. Data management

We manage collected information appropriately and work to prevent unauthorized access, loss, or leakage.

For troubleshooting, Cloudflare stores technical error logs and a sample of API and scheduled-task traces, including processing times. Query strings are redacted and routine invocation logs are disabled. We do not add request bodies, location coordinates or saved browser settings to our error logs. Retention follows Cloudflare's logging and tracing policies.

6. Voluntary support (donations)

If you make a voluntary contribution via the About page, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. Card details etc. are managed by Stripe and are not retained by this Service.

8. Maps and contact forms

Stop maps and platform maps load background images directly from OpenStreetMap. The map provider receives your IP address and requests for the displayed map area, which may be near your current location. The contact form opens Google Forms, where the information you submit is processed.
